Commercial Use Guidelines

1. Commercial Use Permissions

Yes, you may use generated images for commercial purposes under Google's standard terms, including:Marketing and advertising materialsBusiness social media contentProduct concepts and storyboardsWebsite and app artwork

Copyright Considerations: While commercial use is permitted, AI-generated images typically cannot be copyrighted in most jurisdictions (including the US). You can sell or use these images in your business, but you cannot prevent others from using identical images.

2. Account Tier DifferencesBoth free and paid accounts permit commercial use, but offer different levels of legal protection:
Free Accounts: Commercial use allowed, but users assume all risk for potential copyright disputes

Paid/Enterprise Accounts: Include Copyright Indemnification—Google may provide legal support if generated content inadvertently infringes third-party copyrights (terms apply)

3. Prohibited UsesRegardless of account type, you cannot generate:

Illegal content (CSAM, violent imagery, etc.)

Non-consensual sexual content (deepfakes, NSFW images of real individuals)

Deceptive materials (fraudulent documents, fake IDs, misleading political content)

Trademark violations (images containing recognizable brand logos like Nike or Apple require editing before commercial use)

4. Digital WatermarkingNano Banana images contain SynthID, Google's imperceptible watermark that identifies AI-generated content. This watermark can verify the image's AI origin, so avoid misrepresenting it as human-created

.Best Practices for Business UseInspect outputs for brand logos or recognizable individuals before use

Treat images as non-exclusive—don't build business models requiring sole ownership

Consider upgrading to Enterprise plans for indemnification coverage on commercial projects
